children will listen. They will listen to the noises you make. They will listen to your ideas. They will listen to your words. And finally they will listen to your self-awareness. If you show them that you are aware, that you understand your actions, and that you can learn from them rather than judge, they will listen and eventually follow your lead.
If they don’t, they will run away from you. Even if you don’t mean to hurt them, show them that you are aware and that you can be trusted. They will listen and you will learn.
Children can learn a lot from listening to you. It’s not the same as “listening to you” or “listening to them.” Children actually learn a lot by listening to you. When you make a mistake, they learn that you are aware of it. When you are rude, they learn that you are not to be trusted. When you are loud, they learn that you are not to be trusted. When you are disrespectful, they learn that you are not to be trusted.
Children will listen. Because they care. And because they listen. Children will pay attention. We all know that. This is what we’ve been talking about all day. Because they pay attention. Because they listen. Because they learn.
It’s important to remember that children care and that we should be teaching them that. But that doesn’t mean we should forget the importance of making mistakes. It is a lesson we all need to learn, but it doesn’t have to be complicated. If you are trying to teach your child to be respectful you should start by reminding him or her why being respectful is important. If you are trying to teach your child to listen you should start by telling them why listening is important.
As a parent, you have a responsibility to teach your child to listen. To teach your child to listen you should be reminding your child that the things that they do are important. The more you have your child teach them, the more they should be taught. It makes sense that a child who learns to listen to their parents is more likely to learn to be respectful in turn.
When you teach your child to listen to you, you are teaching them about themselves. You are teaching them to be more self-aware, which makes it so they are better able to be respectful to themselves. If you are teaching your child to listen, then you are teaching them to think critically and to have a healthy skepticism. These are traits that are likely to turn kids into better people.
Children who learn to listen have a heightened awareness of their own emotions. They have a tendency to be more generous and less judgmental. They tend to be more empathetic and compassionate. They are more likely to have better self-regard. They are more likely to be more confident. A person who learns to listen to their parents will have a higher self-esteem.
I think it’s probably not a coincidence that children who learn to listen to their parents will also end up with a higher self-esteem. It’s just as likely to be the case that it is a coincidence rather than a cause. I don’t believe in coincidence but I don’t believe in causation either.
Children tend to be more empathetic and compassionate, which makes them more likely to have better self-regard, which makes them more likely to be more confident. I think it is possible that this is a coincidence and not a cause, but I don’t believe in this to be a cause. And if it is a cause, then we would not be able to control it.
