Tip #11: Pick A Theme for Your Name
(This is one of our favorites!)
Your country dog name can have a theme, like the names in your favorite book. Find inspiration among novelists by using characters’ names or following their surname to find a unique and memorable moniker for Fido. For example, if you’re reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain then Nellie could be an appropriate choice! Or get clever with Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days and give your pup Phileas as his country dog name. This creative approach may take some time to come up with but it will definitely pay off when you are meeting lots of new dogs at doggy daycare.
Tip #12: Consider Something Unique
(This one could be a little tough!)
Sometimes it’s just not easy to find that perfect name! If you can’t decide on anything, why not try something off the wall and unique? There are so many great ways for your pup to stand out from all of those other dogs at doggy daycare! Maybe choose a special word in another language as his country dog name or use an acronym like “MOM” for Mommy Owns My Heart. It may take some time before finding what fits perfectly but this creative approach will make life much more fun while hunting down new friends with similar tastes :)

Dog names are hard. Your dog deserves a good one, so we’re giving you some tips to make the process easier.
We’ll start with something counterintuitive: don’t go for your favorite name right off the bat! You’re going to be living together and sharing every moment of their life for years (or more), it’s important that you find something they like as well.
Here are ten tips on how to pick out a country doggie name that both of you will love even more than before!
-Doing research is time consuming but worth it if this really matters to you - there are plenty of dogs who need homes after all..plus Google can give insights into what type of breed your pup may be.
-If you’re still unsure, think about what your dog’s personality is like and then pick a name to match. For example if they’re shy or easily startled by loud noises, choose something that calms them down (like ‘Roxy’ for example). If they get along with kids, go for an energetic name (‘Captain’).
-Consider where in the world their breed originated from - this can give insight into how their temperament will behave and therefore help you find the perfect country doggie names!
-You might want to consult with friends who have had dogs before as well - it doesn’t hurt to ask around and see what other people are naming theirs after all!
-Look at your pup’s gender and consider whether they’re more male or female to determine what type of names you should be considering. Male dogs often have strong, rugged sounding country dog names while females will often have softer sounding girlier ones!
-Look for inspiration from your own home state too - place is a big factor in naming, so take note of the environment that your pup lives in every day.
-If you live on a farm or next to a beautiful lake house then it might make sense to use those as inspirations for their name (like ‘Lennox Lake’ for example!). If not, think about some other aspects of where they spend most of their time - like are they usually outside all morning? Consider adding ‘Sunshine’ to their name.
-Do you live in a part of the country that has some great landmarks? If so, be sure to include them into your pup’s name!
Counterintuitive Tip Number Three: Consider naming your dog after a famous figure - just as long as it doesn’t have any type of negative connotation (like ‘Pee Dog’). Have they always been super popular with people or do they seem like an underdog who deserves recognition too? It can be really fun and interesting to use someone else’s identity in order to find meaning for yourself. Maybe even try using names from different languages when trying out new ones! You might end up finding something totally unique because of it.
